![]() ![]() I got my bear pattern from Style Me Pretty. I glued all the pieces together with quick dry craft glue and then I sewed them all together with clear thread on the sewing machine. We get over 370 people attending this four hour, drop in program so these puppets need to be as sturdy as possible. So, keep in mind if you want to make these puppets, that you will need to make your pattern a little bigger for an adult. I wish they were bigger because I want the adults to use them too to tell their child stories, but they are just going to have to make do because I don't have time to make them over again. This week I made felt puppets that fit a child's hand. So, I am in the middle of planning and creating all the activities. Most of the games and activities are things parents can replicate at home with (cheap) craft supplies, things found around the house or in the recycle bin. There are games and activities for babies, toddlers and preschoolers at each station. Each station focuses on developing a different early literacy skill with your child. There are seven or eight stations and a craft set up around the whole library. In an enchanted Alaskan forest, join a family of bears as they encounter different perspectives and values, ultimately sharing a common purpose with a salmon and resolving their conflict with a golden-haired trespasser, who learns precious lessons from them as well as from her bald eagle companion about respect, kindness. This is a program where kids ages 0 - 5 years can come to our library to do games and activities with a caregiver. ![]() My post this week is in preparation for the annual Early Literacy Fair at our library. The story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears can be told however you wish to portray it with the freedom the hand puppets give you. ![]()
